Water Birth

Water birth is a natural birth method, which is widespread in the United States and Europe. The delivery takes place in a pool designed for this special purpose. With the water temperature at 37°C, the mother-to-be is given the opportunity to move freely during childbirth, without having taken any medication.

The facilities, which provide soft lighting, music and essential oils, along with the presence of well-trained midwives, the woman’s obstetrician and her partner create a pleasant, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Having a healthy pregnancy free of complications is a prerequisite for water birth. The woman also needs to feel comfortable in water and be well-informed about the method.

Restrictions
Water birth is inadvisable in the following cases:

  • Complications and multiple gestation
  • Premature rapture of membranes
  • High blood pressure and preeclampsia
  • Premature labour

If an expectant mother opts for water birth, she needs to know about the benefits of the method. Giving birth into water is undoubtedly a unique and unforgettable experience. The woman still feels pain and stress, but warm water seems to reduce them and buoyancy allows the woman’s body to move more freely.

Moreover, female organs become more elastic and relaxed, facilitating the delivery of the baby and reducing the risk of injury.
