When should the vaccine be given?
The annual gynecological examination consists of a series of examinations very important for the health and fertility of the woman.
It is a set of clinical observations whose primary objective is to protect the female organism and to detect possible diseases, which have not shown symptoms.
Contrary to popular belief, the annual gynecological check-up is not just a Pap test or a simple ultrasound, but includes substantial and comprehensive examinations.
Thus, once a year, women of reproductive age must undergo the following checks:
- Medical history
- Pap Test
- Transvaginal ultrasound
- Breast palpation – Mammography
- Collection of vaginal fluid
Medical history
It includes the pathological and surgical history of the woman and her family.
The woman's obstetrical and medication history as well as her contraceptive, symptom and menstrual history are thoroughly studied.
Pap Test
It is the collection of cells from the cervix in order to investigate the possibility of cervical cancer and the possibility of infection by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and its various manifestations (precancerous lesions, warts).
Conditions for the correct performance of the test are the completion of one year from the start of sexual contact, abstinence from sexual activity for 24 hours and the absence of a period.
Transvaginal ultrasound
Transvaginal ultrasound accurately examines the pathology of the uterus and ovaries.
Thus, the following conditions can be detected: fibroids, endometriosis, cysts, and even endometrial and ovarian cancer.
With this test we can also see if a woman is at risk of early ovarian failure and check her fertility levels.
Breast palpation – Mammography
Breast palpation is the first and most immediate action a gynecologist takes in order to identify suspicious breast formations.
This specific procedure can also be performed by the woman herself, as long as she is properly trained to do so. Mammography, in turn, is divided into classic and digital.
It is a radiological method that depicts the anatomy of the breast and its possible changes. Mammography is the most appropriate and effective examination for the diagnosis of breast cancer.
Collection of vaginal fluid
It is the procedure that involves taking fluid from the cervix and vagina, so that the exact causes (bacteria, fungi, ureaplasma, etc.) of genital discomfort can be identified and the appropriate medication can be administered.
